EBOX Fibre FAQ
Structured answers for Ontario shoppers comparing ebox ftth, networking setup, and ebox referral code questions. This is independent guidance, not EBOX support.
FAQ
What is the EBOX referral code?
This guide uses referral code WO27. Enter it during EBOX signup if the checkout shows a referral field. Bill credits depend on EBOX’s referral rules and eligibility.
Can I use my own router with EBOX fibre?
Often yes. EBOX fibre on Bell FTTH is commonly delivered as PPPoE with VLAN tagging. Your router needs PPPoE plus VLAN support (VLAN 40 in many setups) and a sensible MTU for PPPoE (1492 is typical). Not every home router exposes VLAN tagging on the WAN interface.
Can I use UniFi with EBOX fibre?
Yes, many people run UniFi gateways directly off the ONT using PPPoE, VLAN ID 40, and MTU 1492. You usually connect Ethernet from the ONT to the UniFi WAN port, then enter the PPPoE credentials EBOX provides.
Does EBOX fibre use Bell fibre?
EBOX sells Bell-hosted FTTH in many Ontario locations. Your drop is still Bell fibre to the ONT; EBOX is your ISP for service configuration, billing, and support within their product rules.
What VLAN does EBOX fibre use?
Bell wholesale FTTH setups discussed in EBOX communities commonly use VLAN ID 40 on the WAN for PPPoE. Always confirm against the install notes or support message you receive, because exceptions can exist.
What MTU should I use with EBOX PPPoE?
1492 is the usual PPPoE MTU on Ethernet. If you see fragmentation or odd application behaviour, MTU is one of the first values to verify along with VLAN tagging and correct PPPoE credentials.
Where do I find my EBOX PPPoE username and password?
EBOX provides PPPoE credentials through their customer portal, onboarding email, or support workflow. Store them securely; you will need them any time you replace your router.
What is an ONT?
An optical network terminal converts the incoming fibre to an Ethernet handoff for your router. In Bell-style installs it is usually a small indoor unit with a fibre patch and one or more Ethernet ports.
Can I plug fibre directly into a UniFi SFP port?
Generally no for these residential installs. The ONT terminates the ISP fibre and presents Ethernet. You connect the ONT Ethernet port to your router WAN unless your ISP documents a different approved demarcation.
Do I need to use the Nokia Beacon router?
If you bring your own router that supports PPPoE and VLAN tagging, you typically do not need to keep the Nokia Beacon in the path. Many people put the Beacon aside once the ONT is feeding their own gateway.
Does EBOX use CGNAT?
Product details change. Check the EBOX product page and your order summary for whether your plan is CGNAT or includes a public IPv4 option. If you need inbound IPv4, static or public IP add-ons may matter.
Does EBOX support IPv6?
Many Bell FTTH wholesale stacks support IPv6 via DHCPv6-PD on capable routers. Enable it experimentally on UniFi or your platform after IPv4 is stable, and verify prefix delegation in the router logs.
Is EBOX better than TekSavvy?
It depends on your priorities. EBOX is often strong on price for Bell FTTH resale, while TekSavvy may appeal if you want a long-standing independent ISP brand. Compare current pricing, add-ons, IPv4/CGNAT policy, and support expectations.
Does the EBOX referral code stack with other promos?
It depends on EBOX’s checkout rules. Referral credits and promotional pricing are controlled by EBOX at checkout time. If both fields exist, follow the site’s flow, but treat the final checkout total and on-page terms as authoritative—assume nothing stacks until the total confirms it.
When does the $25 referral credit appear?
Timing follows EBOX’s published referral program. Credits often apply after install or first bill milestones, but read the current terms on ebox.ca because they can change.
